'In MEMORY of / GEORGE HART Esq. R. Admiral of the White Squadron of H. M. Fleet / who departed this Life 28 April 1812 in his 60 Year; in his Profession / Zealous, intrepid, humane, a Fond Father and Affectionate Husband, / a Pious Christian. Also of Mary Anne his Fourth Daughter who / departed this life on the 8 June 1813 in her 18th Year after a lingering / illness which her amiable disposition and Pious mind enabled her to / bear with Patience & Resignation. Also of HENRY CHICHESTER / his only Son who on the 30 June 1813 & the 24th year of his Age / a Lt. of the Royal Navy and first of H.M.S. Venus was cut off in / the Execution of his Duty in Carlisle Bay, Barbadoes. / Beloved and Regretted by his Brother Officers his Ship's / Company and all who knew him / This is erected by ANNE, the Widow and Mother of the / deceased a feeble but sincere Token of her Affection / and Regret.'

With this vessel alone, among the terrible enemies of the Christians, with raised standards, with courageous spirit and not at all deterred by their overpowering numbers, he fought with increasing courage and prudence against seven Turkish ships, until his body, crowned with the naval diadem of immortal glory, which can be justly compared to that of the victorious Romans, pierced in the middle by a cannon ball, exhaled his victorious soul on 22 May 1681 at the exact age of 27.]
