Notes: HMS Royal Oak was a Revenge-class battleship built for the Royal Navy in 1914. She was lost in 1939, when the German submarine U-47 infiltrated the British anchorage at Scarpa Flow. U-47 torpedoed the Royal Oak, sinking the ship causing the loss of some 833 souls of her 1,234 complement.

Wager's arms on a pyramid behind. Below the inscription, a relief of Wager's action off Cartagena 28 May 1708.
