'Sir Marc Isambard Brunel, born at Nacquevelle in Normandy April 25th 1769. Died in London December 12th 1849. He has raised his own monument by his public works at Portsmouth, Chatham and the Thames Tunnel. Isambard Kingdom Brunel, civil engineer only son of Marc Isambard Brunel born April 9th 1806. Died September 15th 1859'
