'SACRED / to the memory of / JOHN WATKINS / late master of the / British Schooner Nymph / who departed this life on the / 28th January 1848 / aged 21 years. / While endeavouring to board / his vessel off this port in a gale of / wind he was driven on the rocks where he perished. / His loss will be long and / severely felt by his disconsolate / widow and infant child, as well as by / a numerous circle of friends and /acquaintance who deplore his untimely fate in a foreign land.'
