THOMAS SMITH, / BORN IN THIS PARISH ON THE 7TH JUNE 1790, / AND DIED / AT HIS RESIDENCE IN PRINCES STREET, / ON THE 25TH MAY 1848, / LEAVING A WIDOW AND FAMILY / TO DEPLORE HIS LOSS. / THIS TABLET TO HOLD IN MEMORY, / THE GOOD QUALITIES AND INTEGRITY / BY WHICH HE ENDEARED HIMSELF / TO THOSE WHO KNEW HIM, / HAS BEEN ERECTED / BY A SUBSCRIPTION OF MEMBERS OF / THE ROYAL THAMES YACHT CLUB, / OF WHICH SOCIETY / HE WAS FROM ITS FORMATION / A STRENUOUS SUPPORTER.'
