WILLIAM ROGERS, OF GOSPORT, / AND COMMANDER OF THE SHIP / "STARTLED FAWN" OF LIVERPOOL, / WHO FELL A VICTIM OF CHOLERA WHILE IN / THE ZEALOUS DISCHARGE OF HIS DUTIES / AT CALCUTTA, 28TH JUNE 1858, AGED 36 YEARS. / THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY THE OWNERS OF THE / SHIP AS A TOKEN OF REGARD AND ESTEEM / FOR ONE WHOSE LOSS THEY DEEPLY DEPLORE.'
