'To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of Maurice John Bethell Lieutenant, Royal Navy, during the Battle of Jutland May 31st 1916 his ship HMS Nestor being shelled and abandoned in a sinking condition he remained on board tending a dying signalman and sacrificed his life for his shipmate. Born March 9th 1894.
