'In affectionate remembrance of Alfred Nicholls, Chief Officer of the ship ' Moss Glen,' the beloved and only son of Alfred and Elizabeth Nicholls) who was accidentally drowned in the China Sea in the presence of his parents, May 28th, 1878, aged 23 years. Born at Mylor, buried at Hong Kong.'
