'Sacred to the memory of / Mr James Murray / late of the H.C. Marine, who departed this life / on the 16th day of Oct. 1819, aged 34 years / 6 months and 12 days. / This Monument is erected as a lasting testimony / of his many virtues, by his affectionate brother / Thomas Murray / from all the various ills below, / Safe doth my brother sleep, / His heart no greater pangs shall know / His eyes no more shall weep.'
