'An Epitaph on the Death of JOHN CARLTON Mariner and lost in his long boate 18 Nov. 1674 aet 21. Sonne to WILL. CARLTON Mercht. Sheriff Anno 1668 Here rests his Mortal part asleep againe / who was once saved nodding on the maine / But cast the second time on Thetis lap / Sad Providence sent none to hand him back. / The curled billows wept to see him lye / Divested of his Immortality. / They foamed his Remaines above the deep / And now his dust doth with his Fathers sleep / waiting awaking when all Tempests cease / And tossed Bodies land in perfect peace'
