'This Tablet / IS ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF / MRS. REBECCA COOPER, / BORN IN THE TOWN OF LYNN REGIS, NORFOLK, / 18TH NOVEMBER 1797, / BY HER AFFECTIONATE AND SORROWING HUSBAND / MR J. D. COOPER / MASTER PILOT IN THE H.C. MARINE. / ALSO HER SON THOMAS COOPER SARJANT. / AGED EIGHT YEARS, / WHO WERE DROWNED WHILE ON THEIR PASSAGE / FROM ENGLAND, ON BOARD THE SHIP / PROTECTOR, / WHICH WAS WRECKED OFF THE SAND HEADS / DURING A SEVERE GALE ON THE 19TH OCT. 1838 / WHEN ALL HER PASSENGERS AND CREW / (SEVEN EXCEPTED) PERISHED / She is not dead; but sleepeth.
