'Sacred to the memory of William Cummings, Esq; Paymaster & Purser Royal Navy who died 16th May 1848 aged 63 years, universally respected and regretted having ever proved himself a zealous officer, an upright merchant and faithful friend and a good Christian. His end was peace. Also to the memory of the undermentioned children of the above and of Ann his wife. Jane who died 29 April 1831 aged 13 months. James died 22 Feb. 1832 aged 8 months. Alfred died 17 March 1844 aged 5 years 1 month. Helier died 26 April 1847 aged 14 years, also of the above Ann Hill widow of the above William Cummings Esq. died 29 May 1850 aged 52 years [verse]'
