'In memory of / CAPT. STEPHEN HUTCHENS / of this Parish, who departed this life / at Port Royal, Jamaica, the 24th day / of August 1709, & was buried by the / Communion Table in Kingston Church / in the forty first year of his age / Psalm cxii, 89 / His heart was established and did not shrink / until he saw his desire upon his enemies. / He hath dispersed abroad, and given to the poor; and his righteousness remaineth for / ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. / He hathe given one hundred pounds towards / the repairing and beautifying of this Church / and six hundred pounds for building a house / for six poor men, and six poor women, born in / this Parish to live in and towards their / maintainance. / Anglia me genuit corpus Jamaica sepulto / jam tenet. Ao animam possidet ipse Deus / B ounus heb dueth, Eu poes Karens wei / tha Poble Bohodzhak Paull han Eles nei. / HeroicK actions eternize his fame / and pious ones with glory crown his name.'

Description: In an architectural surround surmounted by a flaming urn and two weeping cherubs holding cartouche. The inscription tablet is flanked by corinthian columns and military trophies. On the apron a naval action in relief.
