'In Thanksgiving to God for the Memory of Charles Arthur Robert Thorp Lieutenant in the Royal Navy who was drowned in the English Channel November 12th 1925 aged 26 with his fellow Officers and Men in HM Submarine M 1. Eldest son of Charles Fenwick and Jane Thorp. Married in this Church to Anne Campbell Hunter. They that go down to the sea in ships and occupy their business in great waters those men see the works of the Lord and the wonders of the deep.'
