'In / memory of / WILLIAM POAD / master mariner who was / drowned by the upsetting of the / lifeboat while attempting to save / the crew of the brig Ann of London / February 4th 1843 aged 30 years / Also SUSANNA his wife / daughter of WILLIAM and MARY GRANT who died June 27th 1835 aged 21 years / Let faith and hope dispel your tears / And dry the fearful yes / A few more years and you shall... / your... / in the sky / with Zion's saving gates in view / through every danger rise / And win a ... / ...in the skies / Also WILLIAM GRANT / their son who died October 4th 1840 aged 6 years'
