'John Swankie / Helen Cargill / IN MEMORY OF / DAVID SWANKIE Seaman Arbroath / Who died on the 21st November 1845 / In the 53rd year of his Age / Revised by ANN CARGILL his spouse / As a tribute of respect / For an affectionate Husband / The above Ann Cargill / Died 27th March 1873 Aged 82 years / Tho' man in health at morn arise/and joyful view the light / Perhaps a stiffened corse he lies / [At] the return of night'
