'Here repose the mortal / remains of Ann CRAINE otherwise / GELLING wife of John CRAINE of / Douglas who departed this transitory/life on the 29th day of March 1814 / aged 35 years / also are here interred and on each side four children of the above nam'd / vis Esther died April 11th 1809 aged 8 years / Thomas died January 9th 1812 aged 10 years / Jane died October the 13th 1819 aged 7 years / Come ye blessed children of my father into / the Kingdom prepared for you from the / foundation of the world / John were [sic] drowned off Douglas Head / 21st March off board the Brig Sarah / of Whitehaven 1830 aged 22 years / also in memory of / John CRAINE late of Douglas / husband of the above Ann CRAINE and father of the above children / who departed this life the 17th day of April 1849 aged 70 years.'
