'To the Glory of God and in memory of / Commander George Cawley, R.D., R.N.R. / President of the United Kingdom Pilots Association / From its formation in the year 1884 until his death in 1910 / This tablet was placed here by the members of the Association / as a token of admiration and respect and to record their / appreciation of his devotion to their interests which brought / great benefit to the pilots of the United Kingdom. / His tireless energy through troublous years his wise counsel / and sometimes his restraining influence guided the members / of the Association into closer bonds of brotherhood'
