‘Sacred to the Memory of / The Revd. THOs. BROUGHTON D.D. / Rector of St. Andrew’s Holborn, / & Grandson of HENRY BROUGHTON Esqr. / of Willisham in the County of Suffolk; / a Prebendary of the CATHEDRAL CHURCH of Sailsbury, / Rector of Stipington in the County of Herts, / & Vicar of Bedminster, with the Chapelries of ST. MARY REDCLIFF. / ST. THOMAS, & ABBOTS LEIGH Annexed. / He was born in the Parish of ST. ANDREW’S HOLBORN, in the year 1705 / & married ANNE, the Daughter of the Revd. THOS. HARRIS. / of this City, by whom he has six children. / He was a profound & elegant Scholar; / & forcefully applied his talents to the support of the / Protestant Establishment, / of which he was an able & a faithful Minister. / He died 21st. Decr. in the year 1774, Aged 71. / Also / of THOMAS, eldest Son of the first mentioned THOMAS BROUGHTON, MN / Rector of Ewerton in the County of Somerset, & more than thirty years Vicar of Corston in the same County, / & Rector of ST. PETERS in this City. / He married JANE the Daughter of ROBT. WORKMAN Esqr of Barbadoes / who survives him and by whom he had seven children. / He died 11th Decr. 1811, Aged 61. / And also of JOHN, youngest Son of the same THOMAS BROUGhTON / who died 27th June 1801. Aged 48 Years. / Also of FRANCIS JOHN, third son of the last recorded THOMAS BROUGHTON, who was lost in the Earl Talbot Indiaman / in the China Seas in the year 1801. Aged 15 Years. / And of MARY ANNE, the only & beloved Daughter of the same THOMAS BROUGHTON; who died on the 3rd Novr 1801, / in the twenty second year of her Age. / The Widow & surviving Sons of the last mentioned ....
