'Here lie interred the remains of Admiral Sir John West, Knight Grand Cross of the most Honourable Order of the Bath and Admiral of the Fleet. Born July 28th 1774 died April 18th 1862. He was the son of Temple West, Esquire, a Lieutenant-Colonel, 1st Regiment of Guards, and representative of the family of the Wests. Formerly of the counties of Buckingham and Northampton to whom a tablet is inscribed in this church.'
