'In memory of GEORGE GREGORY, Esq. / Rear Admiral of the Red Squadron of His Majesty's Fleet, / who in numerous Engagements with the Enemies / of his Country / but especially on the 11th October 1797. / nobly sustained the Honor of her Flag. / This TABLET, / which seeks rather to commemorate his private worth, is / erected by his affectionate and grateful Niece MARY LOWE / Obt. 17 Jan 1814.'
