'Sacred to the memory of Charles Dudley Ryder second son of Henry Lord Bishop of Litchfield and Coventry and late Midshipman in HBM Ship Naiad Captain Hon. Robert Spencer he was drowned with five of the crew by the upsetting of a boat at the mouth of the Tiber on the 28th of May 1825.'
