'BERLIN' / OFF THE HOOK OF HOLLAND. / IN LOVING MEMORY OF / WILLIAM JOHN MOOR / CHIEF STEWARD / WHO WAS DROWNED 21ST FEBRUARY 1907. / AGED 48 YEARS. / HIS LAST NOBLE AND HEROIC ACT WILL EVER / BE RETAINED IN OUR MEMORIES. ALSO OF CHARLOTTE CAROLINE, / WIFE OF THE ABOVE, WHO DIED 30TH AUG 1921 / AGED 57' [On the kerbstones] 'ALSO OF HUBERT CLAUDE MOOR / KILLED IN FRANCE 1916 AGED 18 YEARS.'
Details
Description: A carved memorial with a statue of a cherub scattering roses on Moor's grave at the top. The figure stands on a rock on which is placed an anchor with a chain and a laurel wreath with a ribbon inscribed 'HERO'. A photograph of W.J. Moor was placed above the inscription (now damaged). The grave has kerbstones and chains (now missing). The surface is covered with marble chips.
