'SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / CAPTAIN JAMES EATON R.N. / OF HILL HOUSE, WEST BROMWICH / WHO DIED OF FEB 28th 1857 / AGED 71 YEARS. / HE WAS A GALLANT OFFICER AND / AN AFFECTIONATE HUSBAND / HE WAS SIGNAL MIDSHIPMAN / AT THE BATTLE OF TRAFALGAR / OCT 21st 1805 / AND HAD THE HONOUR OF REPEATING / FROM THE VICTORY NELSON'S LAST / IMMORTAL SIGNAL: / ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY / MAN THIS DAY WILL DO HIS DUTY.'
