'Sacred / to the Memory of / Captain FRANCIS GEARY GARDNER / of the Royal Marines / who departed this life / the 16th day of November 1813 / aged 39 Years. / Into thy Hands I commend my Spirit / for thou hast redeemed me O LORD / thou GOD of truth / This stone was restored in the year 1858 by his only son / JAMES ANTHONY GARDNER / Governor of Her Majesty's Gaol Bristol / Also to the Memory of ELIZABETH ANN widow of the above / only child of the late Rev. CHRISTOPHER [WELLS] D.D. Rector / of Leigh Worcestershire and Chaplain to the Forces in India / who departed this life the 6th of December 1858 / Aged 85 YEARS'
