'SACRED / TO THE MEMORY OF / JOHN O'BRIAN, FREDERICK WEAVER, WILLIAM SMITH AND THOMAS SILNECK, / SEAMEN / WHO WERE KILLED ON BOARD H.M.S. CASTOR / COMMANDED BY CAPTAIN EDWARD COLLIER / AT THE CAPTURE OF ST. JEAN D'ACRE / BY THE ALLIES ON THE 3RD NOVEMBER 1840. / THIS MEMORIAL / IS ERECTED AS A TOKEN OF REGRET BY THEIR SHIPMATES. / FOR THEY GOT NOT THE LAND IN POSSESSION THROUGH THEIR / OWN SWORD NEITHER WAS IT THEIR OWN ARM THAT HELPED / THEM.
