'Sacred to the Memory / of DAVID RAMSAY KARR / of Kippilaw, in the County of Roxburgh, Esq: / Upwards of fifty Years / Surgeon in HIS MAJESTY'S NAVY, / thirty of which he served as / Surgeon of the Dock-Yard at Portsmouth; / and departed this Life, / universally regretted by his Friends, / on the 27th November 1794, / aged 72 Years, / He lies buried here / as does his wife MARY, / and her sister SUSANNA BOURYEAU, / both Daughters of ZACHARIAH BOURYEAU, / of Blyborough in the County of Lincoln; Esq: / The former died the 30th December 1784 aged 51; / And the latter the 17th February 1785 aged 35'
