'Sacred / to the memory of / EDWARD IVES Esquire / formerly Surgeon / of / the Kent / commanded by / Vice-Admiral WATSON / and of / his Majesty's Hospital / in the East Indies; / whose Remains are interred / in this Church. / Born at Lymington Feby 9th 1719, / Died at Bath September 26th 1786 / In the tender Connections / of Son and Brother, / of Husband Father and Friend; / In the constant exercise / of Humanity, Charity and Benevolence; / As an instructive and cheerful Companion / As a sincere lover of his Country; / As an upright and useful Magistrate; / As a liberal and unaffected Christian, / He afforded a striking Example / worthy of Imitation.' 'Of his offspring by ANN his wife, / the following were removed / from this Stage of sublunary Existence, / while in the full promise of Virtues, / worthy the Children / of such a Father. / ELIZA.
