'Sacred to the memory of / Admiral Sir Charles Carter Drury, / G.C.B., G.C.V.O., K.C.S.I. / Born Aug: 27th 1846, in Rothsay, New Brunswick, / After serving his country for 52 years in the Royal Navy / He made his home at Homewood in this neighbourhood / and died on May 18th 1914, being at that time / Mayor of Tenterden. / This tablet is erected in loving remembrance by his widow / Dame Amy Gertrude Drury, C.B.E., daughter of John Middleton, Esq: / "The glory which Thou gavest me, I have given them" / John XVII 22'
