'Sacred to the memory of Lieut William Burchell, R.N. son of Golden and Eleanor Burchell, late of this parish, who died on board His Majesty's Ship the Royal Oak, off the Chesapeak, on the 9th of August 1814, aged 27 years. Endeared to his family, by his many amiable qualities, they have erected this tablet as a token of their affection'
