'Sacred to the memory of Thomas Edgar JONES, Blacksmith H.M.S. 'Goliath', who lost his life while gallantly trying to rescue his shipmate July 27th 1900 aged 26 years. Erected by the Officers and Ship's Company of H.M.S. 'Goliath'. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John XV 13'
