'John Atkinson of Cote Clayton, near Bradford, Yorkshire. He was a passenger on board of the ill fated Ocean Monarch which was destroyed by fire, 24 August 1848 and on that day he lost his life age 33 near St Ormes head- nearly 200 perished'
