'REAR ADMIRAL RICHARD WILLIS / DIED ON THE 29TH JANUARY 1829 / AGED 74 YEARS / HE WAS THE FOURTH SON OF / THE REVD. FRANCIS WILLIS, M.D. / OF GREATFORD IN LINCOLNSHIRE / AFFECTION TO HIS FAMILY / KINDNESS TO HIS FRIENDS. / CHARITY TO THE POOR, / AND ABOVE ALL, / PIETY TO HIS MAKER / FILLED UP THE MEASURE / OF A TRULY WELL SPENT LIFE.'

Description: On a grey mount, an oval, portrait medallion in white marble, showing the deceased in uniform facing 3/4 left. The incription on a draped cloth, the flukes of an anchor visible below. A speaking trumpet, sword belt and rope carved below. On the apron, a shield of arms flanked by two scallop shells.
