'Sacred to the memory of Captain John Stuart R.N. second son of the Honbl Lieut General Sir Charles Stuart K.B. whose great example he steadily pursued: supporting discipline with manly firmness and Benevolence and encouraging virtue by the precepts and practice of Religion. He died on board the Saldanha frigate which he commanded on the 19th March 1811 aged 30 years and was interred here near the remains of his beloved father whom he strongly resembled'
