'In the vault of this church are deposited the remains of Edward Pelham Brenton Esquire, a captain in the Royal Navy, Historian of the Naval Service in Great Britain. He established the Children’s Friend Society. Died on the 6th April 1839. The remains also of his beloved wife Margaretta Diana Brenton repose by his side. She died 6th November 1843, aged 74.'
