'...Also William son of Thomas and Margaret STAINES, late a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy who died at Haslar hospital Oct 17th 1797 aged 27 years and lies at Gosport... Sacred to the memory of the above named Margaret STAINES relict of Thomas STAINES who died 21st April 1814 aged 68 years. Also of Sir Thomas STAINES Knight son of the above, a captain in the Royal Navy Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath and St Ferdinand and Merit. Born February 22nd 1774 died July 13th 1830 after a life devoted to the honour of his King and Country'
