'Sacred / to the memory of / Thomas Boulden / aged 33 years, boatswain of H.M.S. Perseus / who died December the 20th 1867 from the effects / of a fall received whilst actively assisting / at the fire at Hong Kong on the night of November 23rd. / This tablet is erected by his shipmates. / A tablet has also been erected in Hong Kong / Cathedral by the inhabitants of that city / and a stone placed over his grave / in Happy Valley by the warrant officers / of the squadron'
