Memorial in St Michael’s Church, Lyme Regis, commemorating Edward Hillman d. 1825

Transcript

In a vault at the west end of the North aisle are deposited the remains of Edward Hillman formerly of Winkton in the County of Southampton, and late of this parish; who died on the 15th Decr. 1838, in the 90th year of his age. / Also of Martha his wife, second daughter of the Reverend James Willis, who departed this life on the 10th January 1837 aged 66 years/ This tablet is also erected in memory of Edward their son, who died on the 3rd day of October 1825, aged 30 years whilst in command of HMS Pylades on the West India Station. And the Sea gave up the dead which were in it / 'And Death and the Grave delivered up the dead / which were in them and they were judged / Every man according to their works.'
