'Here lie the Remains / of Paul Gelling of Douglas / Isle of Man, / who was unfortunately drowned / on his passage from Whitehaven / to the afore-said place the 21st / of October 1834 in the 56th / Year of his age / Tho' boreas blasts and neptunes waves / Have toss'd him to and fro / In spite of both by God's decree / He is harbour'd here below / Here at anchor he does sleep / With many of the fleet / Yet once again he will set sail / His Saviour Christ to meet'.
