'Sacred to the Memory / Of the Honble THOs DANVERS Esqr Vice Admiral of the Red Second Son to / Sr ROBERT DANVERS Bart and of Dame MARY eldest Daughter and Coheiress of / THOS JERMYN, Baron of BURY, seated at RUSHBROOK PARK in the County of SUFFOLK / She was likewise Coheiress to her Uncles HENRY JERMYN Earl of St ALBANS & / HENRY JERMYN Earl of DOVER / The said THOs DANVERS dyed of ye yellow fever in this Island of JAMAICA ye 16th day of Septr / in the Year 1746, when Commander in Cheif of his MAJESTY'S Squadron's in the / WEST INDIES, then at War wth. FRANCE & SPAIN, after 40 Years faithfull and / Essential Service to his Country having performed All Trust placed in him with great Honour / Alacrity and Courage wch. gained him the favour of his Royal Master as well as the Just Applause/and esteem of all Good and Generous Minds, they being convinced that what appear'd most Condusive / to the interest of His King, and the good of his Country, would be the Sole Guide of his Conduct / He Married KATHERINE, the only Daughter of Wm. SMITHSON of YORKSHIRE An Heiress Neice / to Lord JERMYN and Lord DOVER, by whom He had three Sons & twelve Daughters, / whereof only one Son & three Daughters survived Him. In the 58th Year of His Age, / He Yeilded up His Soul Into the Merciful Hand of Him who gave it. / Though He Slay me yet I will trust in Him / Job 13th & 15th / This Monument was Erected by His truly Affectionate widow / out of a Just & Faithful regard to His Memory Ao.1748'
