Notes: Decorative carving by Mezieres, commissioned by Jean-Joseph, Marquis de Laborde (1724-94). Sketches and model 1787. Monument originally at his garden at Méréville. Bust in relief a later replacement. Design based on Roman funary altars and originally stood in a small pavillion. Tomb recently enclosed in glass. See SCU0012.
