Transcript

'Sacred to the memory of Mark Milbanke, Admiral of the White, third son of Sir Ralph Milbanke Bart, of Halnaby in Yorkshire, who departed this life June 10th 1805, in the 82nd year of his age, of this long unblemished life, upwards of 70 years he devoted to the service of his country in the Royal Navy. Exchange brave Milbanke now thy labours cease / the deck of duty for the cell of peace / here awful rest thy hallow'd ashes claim/while tender filial tear embalm thy name, / Twas thy first wish through all thy lengthened days / To merit honour yet to shrink from praise/then let fond grief no boastful pride assume/But grace with dutious love thy modest tomb'
