'Sacred to the memory of George Herbert Harris Greathed, 3rd son of Edward Greathed. The First Lieutenant of H.M.S. Britannia who selected to command the seaman of his ship engaged in the siege, he fell gloriously in the trenches before Sebastopol on the 20th October 1854. He received his mortal wound in the act of laying a gun, after having in the words of his General 'Performed his duties in the trenches in a manner which exited the admiration of all' [not exact]
