'In memory of / Catherine White relict of / Captain William White RN and for 16 years matron / of the Royal Hospital / who died 17 June 1829 aged 76 years / in life universally beloved and respected / her death was deeply lamented / by all who knew her / and more especially by her children / who erected this tablet as a token / of their affection and regard / her remains are interred 20 feet / to the NW of this tablet'
