M.S. Lieutenant Robert Wollaston. Sir William Wollaston, eldest brother, Lord of this manor erected the monument on 14 June 1774.

Details

Description: Circular white marble roundel with surrounding marble or alabaster frame encircling. The text is placed at the centre of a circle of relief carving with numerous naval objects, including an anchor and a pennant. Above the text is a heraldic griffin in a crenelated castle. Below is a coat of arms. The surrounding inner circle has ‘NE QUID FALSI’ around the central text : ’Nothing of what is false.’ A quote referring to Cicero.
