'SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / JOHN JAMES STEPHENS JOSLING / CAPT R.N., WHO WAS KILLED WHILST COMMANDING H.M.S. EURYALUS, / AT THE SIEGE OF KAGOSIMA; / ON THE 15TH OF AUGUST 1863 / AGED 38 YEARS, / AS A TRIBUTE TO HIS MANY ESTIMABLE / AND ENDEARING QUALITIES, THIS TABLET IS / ERECTED AS AN AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE, / BY HIS FONDLY ATTACHED SISTER. BLESSED ARE THOSE SERVANTS, WHOM THE / LORD WHEN HE COMETH SHALL FIND WATCHING. LUKE 12.37'
