'NEAR THIS PLACE / ARE DEPOSITED THE REMAINS OF / EDWARD BOYS ESQ / LATE OF UPTON HOUSE IN WORD / AND FORMERLY OF SALMSTONE GRANGE IN THANET / A LINEAL DESCENDANT OF THAT NUMEROUS FAMILY / WHOSE REMAINS ARE DEPOSITED IN THIS CHURCH / A COMMANDER IN THE ROYAL NAVY / AND ONE OF HIS MAJESTY'S JUSTICES OF THE PEACE / BOTH FOR THIS COUNTY / AND THE LIBERTIES OF THE CINQUE PORTS / HE DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 11TH OF NOVEMBER 1822 / IN THE 66TH YEAR OF HIS AGE'
