Ross-shire 22 June 1783 / died at Gilgarron 26th October 1858. / He was on board the Victory at the battle of / Trafalgar and died during a brilliant career. / Served his country faithfully. / Beloved and respected, he died in the joyful / hope of a glorious resurrection'
