'Near this place is interred the body of Jonas Shish / Esq: Master Shipwright to King Charles ye second / of his Magesties Yards Deepford and Woolwich who / departed this life May ye 5th : 1680 : in the : 75 : yeare of his / age and in his last sickness did appoint his Epitaph in / words to this effect / By sin I die the wages due to all / By sin as I the Univers must fall / Yet holy IESVS bring me to ye throne / Of Heavenly bliss where GOD doth rule alone / That I may sacred Anthems alwaies sing / With holy Angels to their Soveraign King / Once I was strong but am intombed now / To be dissolved to dust and so must you / In health remember still thy latter end / That will beget a care nere to offend / Here also lyeth the body of Elizabeth his wife / Who departed this life ye 5th of March : 1678 : in ye / 59 : yeare of her age together with 8 children / and 12 Grandchildren leaving behind them 3 / sons and 3 daughters / Also John the Eldest Son Master Shipwright / Of his Majesties Yard : Deptford : Objit: Octob : /11th : 1686 : Aged : 43 : Yeares. & Thomas . ye : 3d Son / Master Shipwright : Of : his Majesties Yard / Woollwich : Obijt : December the 6th : / 1685 : Aged : 37 : yeares. And Kendrick / The Son of John and Marie Shish Who Deceased May the 15th 1685 / Aged 14 Yeares'
