Notes: George Ley Pearce Vernon was an American-born British citizen and former concert singer who was acting as an arms importation agent, selling rifles to Russia. His French wife, Inez was a professional violinist. Inez’s sister, actress Rita Jolivert, was also on the journey from England to the United States when the Lusitania was torpedoed. Both Inez and Rita both survived the vessel sinking. However, Inez committed suicide by shooting herself around 22nd July 1915 in New York. Rita brough her sister’s ashes to Ireland after the war.

George Vernon was also known as George Butler.
